…Once, I fastened every lightning

streak to your lips

hungry hungry. Who said the roof

of the universe begins with the

                          lover's tongue (maybe it was me about you) and once light shot

from us like a beacon from a stormy sea somewhere

north, Alaska or Newfoundland

somewhere colder than that

winter I threw my dog from the

second story into 40 inches of snow

to pee    our love was like that

                               a rise up from the snow our past hushing desire and

arc into light…
